I think too much can make your work sound dated or difficult to understand, but you need a little to make your dialogue feel authentic. I was surprised when she showed me a picture of what she bought. Not at all what I had imagined!

And I know what a bum bag is. I won't translate it to what we call it in America, because the word we use is considered offensive in your country, I believe. Haha! Something I also learned just last week.

Words don't always mean the same in other countries.Annie McMahonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03008412049738658869noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1248193231958936629.post-19310670886363189242010-04-30T09:47:04.521+10:002010-04-30T09:47:04.521+10:00Okay, now I want to read (and watch) Tomorrow When...Okay, now I want to read (and watch) Tomorrow When the War Began... that trailer got me!

I do know jumper as sweater, thongs as flipflops, rubbers as erasers, and a few others... I love Australian/NZ slang (after 4 days in Australia and 5 in NZ, I'm a little bit fascinated by both countries).Guineverehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10058786129073896210noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1248193231958936629.post-252159841677156892010-04-30T05:23:39.918+10:002010-04-30T05:23:39.918+10:00@Query Girl. Everyone else is from different parts of England so I often stumble on the way they form dialogue or different words. Same goes for them with my manuscript. Especially my recent one which has a lot of americna teen slang.Creepy Query Girlhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18115161057496086972noreply@blogger.com
