Wind-down Wednesday

Billy Joe, Singer and songwriter

I just love musicals (yeah, I know. I'm sappy like that). And, I felt this song was a fantastic song to represent what writers are like. I like to believe you learn more from rejections and mistakes than you do if you got that "yes" (even though that one "yes" would be absolutely fantastic and I would take it over a rejection any day). If you can get back up, learn from the mistake and try again, that will only make you stronger. We writers are all survivors who will pursue through all conditions (dare I say it... through sleet and rain) until we achieve our goals.

Just remember that it's okay to scream every now and again. If you're embarrassed to out in public, then go to a theme park and ride a thrill ride... that'll give you the opportunity. And, don't forget to give yourself at least some time to relax and catch your breath. Hope everyone's Wednesday is going good.

Wonderful post!!! I need to remember to have fun, scream, and relax!!! The Glee episode last night cheered me up a bit, but my weeks seem so long ever since my hubs works overnights. I hope that one day I'm back to the happiness I want!

Thanks Jen. Just remember that you need at least one day off (or at least the night). Kick your feet up and relax, watch a movie... or Glee (that always helps to cheer me up) and I'm sure everything will feel better, even if it's for a bit.

I love musicals too! I actually did a few when I was in highschool- Camelot, Fiddler on the Roof, Jacob and the technicolored dreamcoat. All a blast! I think I must have watched Grease at least a thousand times. Good clip! I'd never seen this video before- is that the girl from the Vampire Diaries??

I love musicals too,but I've never done any. Because I get stage fright! Great video. Thanks for sharing this!

Thanks, Jen. Loved the video. Not only do we have to survive through the rejections, but also, through the waiting for said rejections. I have some stuff out and not having word on them drives me crazy.

Great post. I love musicals too (gotta be sappy sometimes). I'm gonna scream more.

Yes, exactly!! I so agree. And I'm so going to write down that quote and save it for later...

This is so true. I'm okay with screaming, but I need to learn to cry more. I always feel better afterward, weird as that may seem.

@Query Girl, I was also in my High School musicals (they were some funny disasters), and yes this is Elana from Vampire Diaries.

@The Little Flower, stage fright is terrible. As long as you can enjoy the musicals that's just as good.

@Brenda, I totally agree. The waiting is probably the hardest part of all.

@Lydia, thanks. You always have to make time to relax and have a bit of fun. Life's too short not to enjoy it.

@Lindsay, screaming is actually good stress relief, even though it seems silly if you have nothing to scream at (that's why the theme park idea is always a good one).

@Beth, I thought that quote was great. It shows us exactly what we have to do as writers.

@Elana, I'm the same. It's just so easy to bottle up the emotions until there's a big explosion. Anything that makes you feel better is good therapy.

I think survivor is another word for "irrationally ambitious", at least in my case. I could do lots of other things that could make more money, but I'm crazy enough to keep going until I hit the big time.

Love musicals - my son is in Dr. Horrible right now here in P.O. He's playing Captain Hammer - pretty funny show

Musicals are a tonic to the soul if done right. GLEE seems to know how to get the spirit right.

And rejection and pain may teach you more -- but right now, I would much rather be stupid and accepted by an agent and publisher! Roland

@Kaylie. LOL, I totally agree. But hey, if we weren't we wouldn't be writers.

@Kim, I haven't heard of Dr Horrible. Might be one worth checking out.

@Roland, I love Glee. It definitely knows how to cheer me up. And I do agree about being accepted, just trying to keep positive (well, trying to convince myself that rejections ARE good).

Yes! We're all survivors!
Love that song--reminded me of Glee. :)
