Armchair BEA: Introductions

BEA, also known as Book Expo America, is happening in New York and, alas, I could not make it... this could have something to do with it being in a whole different country on the opposite side of the world thing (although I did get the sudden inspiration to dip into my brother's savings for a couple of plane tickets... he did not like that idea much though).

Instead I'll be participating in armchair BEA. Why? Because it costs nothing and I can participate at home.

Today's post is all about introductions. I'm an Aussie book blogger who is currently studying to become a high school English teacher. I read way too much and have over 50 books (not including those on my iPad) that are sitting on my bookshelves just waiting for me to read.

So, here's a little big about me for all those wanting to know (even those who really don't):

  1. I read everything and all in YA (just call me a big kid at heart).
  2. I really want to go to Japan... planning to get there at the end of the year.
  3. I love everything Horror (but more of the psychological than the slasher).
  4. I write YA and am working on several projects at the moment.
  5. I play the guitar and dabble in writing my own songs.
  6. I am very impulsive... especially when it comes to buying books (hey, I can't help that the book store was having a closing down sale with 75% off and I walked away with over 10 books).
  7. I've already purchased my tickets for the midnight Harry Potter... can't wait to see the concluding movie.
I look forward to meeting up with anyone else doing the armchair BEA. It's going to be just as good as being there (and that's me acting positive).

So, who else is participating in armchair BEA?

My first time at Armchair BEA, and I am finding some great book blogs! I am an impulsive book buyer too.

Thanks for reminding me about the HP move premiere, I need to go grab my tickets! I want to visit Australia some day - I've wanted to since I was a kid. Have fun during armchair bea! This is a great event!

HARRY POTTER! So excited about the final movie, though I most likely will not be hitting the midnight showing... my days start too early.

Nice to meet you!

Dropping by to say hi! I read a lot of YA books too and I'm actually jealous of the state of Aussie YA right now. I keep wondering why we can't have the same thing here in the Philippines. I look forward to seeing you around ArmchairBEA this week. :)

I am a big kid at heart too and love YA. I really want to go to Australia (my dream vacation and maybe I will just retire there). Hope you enjoy this week.

This is also my first Armchair BEA! Very nice to meet you. I wanted to be an English teacher many years ago, but now I satisfy my teaching bug with work related things. Good luck and enjoy ABEA :)

I'm with you on the psychological vs. slasher horror thing. My husband makes fun of me, because I worked as an EMT for years, and consequently developed an iron stomach. In real life that is. I have seen some grisly stuff, but I just can't stomach it in movies! Anyway, I love your blog and I'm your newest follower!

I really hope I get to go to Japan someday too! There's so much history there and I'm in love with their architecture!

Thank you for stopping by my blog! I love that BEA costs nothing too! And that it's fun :o) Happy reading!

Nice to meet you! I enjoy psychological horror too (no slasher). Shirley Jackson is my favorite author of that genre. Welcome to Armchair BEA!

I love reading YA and MG novels. It's almost gotten to a point where I can't read an adult book because I want them to GET TO THE ACTION ALREADY!

Like you, I am a huge impulse buyer. I actually think I'm like addicted to buying books. :) We could cause some serious havoc if let loose on a close out sale together!

I'm also a compulsive book buyer! It's why I have to put the "blinders" on when I browse the YA section. I also can't wait for the last Harry Potter movie--and I'd also love to go to Japan someday (a group of my friends went to Japan right after high school and I was so jealous)! Great to meet you and I'm looking forward to seeing more of your posts! :)
