WiP Wednesday

Okay, I admit I've been slacking off a bit this week... not really, it's just been super hectic with school and other personal stuff I've been dealing with, that I haven't had that much time to devote to writing. I do realise that I need to kick my butt into gear though so I can keep my deadline and finish my first draft of the sequel to Shadow Embraced by the end of the month.

I have had a lot of my other ideas pushing to be heard though and I'm anxious to get started reworking with some of those ideas. The only problem I'm facing is that I have so many different projects and so many different ideas that I really need to decide which project is going to take priority when I get to that 'next' project. I've got my horror, my Japanese mystery, my superhero or my paranormal romance... mmm, so many different ones to choose from. I think I'll probably just put all options in a hat and let it be by luck of the draw (or whatever takes my fancy at the end of the month).

So, that's my week. My question is, how do you decide what project to work on next if you have several ideas brewing?

I always have countless ideas clamoring for attention, too. I really don't have a foolproof way of deciding which to work on, though. I usually just go by instinct, as well as by which characters are the loudest during all the clamoring, haha. For example, my main project right now is relatively new, and I really should have been focusing on one of my older ideas, but those characters just would not leave me alone! XD

Anyway, good luck settling on one of your ideas--hopefully you won't have to resort to pulling one out of a hat!

It can be a struggle because my damn brain is an insane idea generator. Just last week I thought up another book idea. But what's different is that it's my first MG (which I've always feared and refused to touch) and I was so impressed I've taken time to try and write a bit of it. Right now I'm just on character bios but I'm getting ready.

When it comes to choosing there's no foolproof method. But if one story is prodding you more than others, you should try and give that one a go even if it's not necessarily your priority. Unless of course you're on a deadline. Best of luck with your writing.

Such a hard decision... I can never decide on what to write next either. Usually end up writing the story that screams the loudest in my head:)

It can be tough when your head's swimming with ideas. Maybe outline all your ideas, and maybe it'll be more apparent which one is begging to be written first.

I don't seem to be able to work on more than one project at a time. I am so not a multi-tasker. :-)
