Wind-down Wednesday

What a wonderful Wednesday it is. It was gloomy and rainy and still we had to go to sports, so I ended up standing (shivering) under the little shelter while watching crazy kids slip and slide while trying to play touch football.

But, on the bright side, I've only got two more days left at school and I think I'm winning... the kids are FINALLY starting to listen to me.

To start off such a wonderful day I would like to thank Slushpile Slut for awarding me with the Beautiful Blogger Award

And, I would love to pass it on to:
Now for the fun. Every day it seems like the amount of contests and blogfests just keep expanding. This week some of the new contests that have appeared are:
  • Nathan Bransford is holding a contest in honour of Rock Paper Tiger. He's holding a chase/action scene contest. All you have to do is post your most exciting chase or action scene in the comments of the contest post. Here's a chance to win a critique from the man himself or even a 10 minute phone conversation with him.
  • Ink in All Forms is giving away a fab YA giveaway full of all the things you'll need to kill some hours reading.
  • Writer's Alley is holding a fantastic giveaway of books and critiques. All you have to do is create a caption or flash story to the picture shown in the post.

I also can't forget about the fantastic blogfests that are taking place this week:
Wow, there seems to be so much happening at the moment, so make sure you all jump in and have some fun. Hope everyone has a great Wednesday.

Wind-down Wednesday

Wow, another Wednesday, and another really good reason to wind-down. So, here's a clip from Family Guy that I know I can relate to, but I'm sure the feeling's mutual for a lot of others as well.

Well, I hope everyone has a great Wednesday. While I'm at it I would like to give a big thanks to Deb Salisbury for giving me:

Now, all I have to do is pass it on to five people and share ten things about myself. That doesn't sound that hard, does it?

So, here are the five I'll pass it on to:
1. Annie from Dutch Hill News
2. Michelle Mclean
3. Ali Cross
4. Alison from Adventures of a Cautionary Tale
5. Mireyah Wolfe

And, now for the ten things I need to share. Now, where do I start?
1. I have been in five car accidents and have walked away from all of them (not a statistic I like to think about because I think cars hate me).
2. I never liked English class during High School because my English teacher made it seem so boring, it was only after I finished that I got serious with writing (woah, that's eleven years ago, seems like forever).
3. I absolutely love Disney and animations (they always have a good story to cheer me up when I've had a really bad day).
4. I played the flute all the way through Primary and High School (I'm pretty sure that's Middle, Junior and High School for the US).
5. I'm rather impulsive (if I see something that I want I pretty much get it... that could explain why most of my library consists of books I've still got to read, and I'm currently trying to get through three at once)... but, shopping is another way to relax, don't you agree?
6. The only coffee I drink is White Chocolate Mocha's from Starbucks (which I absolutely love).
7. Call me a big geek, but I love Anime's (and am eager to attend the convention in April where I'll actually be entering a karaoke contest and singing an entire song in Japanese... well, the worst I can do is trip over the words and totally embarrass myself but that's not much).
8. I am related to a famous Australian Singer (but would rather not know because I didn't know he was a distant cousin until he was in the finals of Australian Idol... I haven't even met the guy).
9. I love horror stories, movies, anything pretty much that terrifies (I was desensitised as a child when I was six and my cousins left me at the entrance of the haunted house ride at a fair... hey, this is a pitch black room where you can't see where you're going... I guess being traumatised has it's advantages).
10. I hate clowns (It's not that I'm scared of them, I just don't believe anyone can be that happy all the time, and fitting that many people into a small car is just wrong).

Well, that's me for another Wednesday. Thanks Deb (go and check her out, she has links to wonderful resources for writers) once again for the award, and I hope I didn't lose any respect for the ten things I shared.

Blog Awards

gLast week I was awarded with three blog awards and I would like to acknowledge the people who gave them to me and pass them on.

---

Thanks to Mireyah for awarding me the Silver Lining Award. The rules seem simple, all I have to do is pass it on to five other blogs. So, here they are:

1. lbdiamond
2. Angela
3. Kate from Lovers, Dreamers and Me
4. Kurt
5. Deb Salisbury

Thanks to lbdiamond for giving me the Creative Writer Blogger Award. And, onto the rules:
1. Thank the person who tagged me. Thanks lbdiamond, you're fantastic. √
2. Copy and Paste the award on my blog. √
3. Link to the person who nominated me. √
4. Tell up to 6 lies and 1 truth about myself. √
5. Tag at least 7 people for this award. √
6. Post links to their blogs. √
7. Comment on each of their blogs to inform them of the nomination. √

Here are the lies (Just remember one of them is the truth):
1. I'm an only child.
2. I've been in five car accidents (ranging from minor to severe) and have walked away from all of them.
3. I write everything by hand.
4. Vampires scare me.
5. I am very well organised and like to plan my day so I fit everything in.
6. I am left handed.
7. I play the violin

And, it's my pleasure to pass this award on to:
1. Elana Johnson
2. Annie
3. Danisue (a.k.a Smoothie Girl)
4. Bethany & Suzzette at Shooting Stars
5. Shannon
6. Rachel
7. Lisa and Laura

And finally, I would like to thank Annie for giving me the Honest Scrap Award. And the rules are to tell ten truths about myself (and you're going to listen whether you like it or not) and pass it on to another fantastic five bloggers. So, here's my truths:
1. I have two degrees, one in business, one in arts.
2. The first novel I wrote was for my little sister about a girl who gets dragged to a world and has to search for a long lost princess, which she happens to be (and with lines like "Trust in hope, your hope is the greatest weapon" you can see why it's buried under my bed somewhere)... but I did appeal to my target audience (of one).
3. I played most sports when I was younger ranging from netball to swimming, gymnastics to ten pin bowling (yes, that's actually a sport).
4. I play the guitar and write my own songs.
5. I love Japanese food and if I had the opportunity to go overseas I would definitely want to go to Japan.
6. I love anything dark and gothic (especially vampires).
7. I'm a big geek at heart and am planning to go to Supanova, Australia's Anime, comic and Sci-fi convention. A big part to that decision is James Masters will be there (Mmm Spike... he's my type of vampire).
8. I absolutely love anything that has Johnny Depp in it, or Tim Burton Directing (looking forward to seeing Alice in Wonderland next week).
9. I have a weakness for White Chocolate Mochas (from Starbucks or Australia's Zarraffas).
10. And finally, I've got to ban myself from going into Borders because I seem to walk out with a new book every time (my to-read list is still expanding, I don't think I'll ever catch up).

And, the five bloggers I'm passing it on to:
1. Casey McCormick over at Literary Rambles
2. Shelli over at Market My Words
3. lbdiamond
4. Cipherqueen
5. Kerri
