Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger Hop

Book Blogger hop is a weekly meme hosted by Crazy for Books. I found this while browsing blogs and thought this was a great way to meet bloggers that love books as much as I do.

This week's question: Why do you read the genres that you do? What draws you to it?

For me, I love to read anything Young Adult, from paranormal to contemporary. I've even started to read some sci-fi's as well. I love the immediacy that is present within the stories. I also love the characters, experiencing their firsts, or learning from their mistakes. They don't have all the answers and experience that many adults would, so their journey is new to both them and me.

So, what genres do you like to read? And what do you like about them?

Hmmm...good question.
I love to read romances (YA or adult) because I'm a romantoc at heart and love a happy ending.
Sometimes I like to read thrillers for that "anxious rush" you get while reading.

The "firsts" is definitely one of the reasons I love YA - that first anything is always so exhilarating and what a blast to live through that again with countless characters.

Happy Hop Day!

YA has always been my favorite genre because I grew up with it. It's what inspired me to read. And to write!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! I'm a new follower. :]

That's what I like about YA books, too - that the teens don't have all the answers or experience like the adults. Plus, I don't like reading about their midlife crises, haha.

Isn't the YA area so exciting and just fun to read! I love your answer and can relate to them.

HOpping by to return the visit and follow! I love YA for the same reasons--the fresh perspectives of characters who are facing certain challenges for the first time. :-)

Thanks for stopping by my blog - I'm a new follower here :-) I love YA as well - it seems that there is always a new story waiting to be told!

I love YA. I'm not sure why, though. I just do. I'm starting to read romantic suspense, which I'm enjoying, but I think YA will always be my major love. There's something about experiencing things for the first time through the eyes and emotions of a teen.

Thanks for dropping by my blog, Cheree! I'm hoping to read some more YA sci-fi for the "Read Outside Your Comfort Zone" Challenge I'm hosting - any recommendations you have for readers who haven't read much sci-fi before and are looking for a gentle introduction to the genre? :D

@ danya. The first sci-fi I read was Academy 7, which was fantastic. I'm reading Across the Universe now, which is also good.

I read all genres. When I'm writing a certain genre, I will read as many books in that genre that I can get my grubby little hands on at the time. I'm what you call an i-pod reader. Can't stick to just one genre like people can't stick to just one artist!

Hopping by! :) Ahh, me too. YA is amazing and I love reading anything within it. Have a nice weekend!

Great answer! Thanks for visiting my blog during the hop.

I enjoyed your reviews of Spirit Bound (I love that series!) and Unearthly. I haven't read Unearthly yet but after seeing all the positive reviews I've ordered it from my library. I have to say that I prefer the Australian cover. I also like the Australian covers of Aussie author Juliet Marillier's books more than the U.S. ones. Our covers usually make the heroines look creepy :(
