I can't "just" watch a movie anymore. I have a tendency to analyse everything in the movie (and combine being a writer to all the film/music/drama classes I've studied... I really pay attention to everything).
I have become increasingly interested in playing the "what if" game when it comes to stories and the characters choices, especially when I feel the plot should have gone a totally different way. I like to imagine what would happen if the characters make a different choice, or if something within the plot was different.
This does create some interesting ideas, and also gets the creative juices flowing. But, am I crazy (okay, don't answer that) or do other people do this sometimes?
So, does anyone else do this? If you're not liking how a story is going, do you like to imagine something else happening to change that ending?

It's not just you. I do it too. :) If I don't like the way it goes, I just change it in my mind :D
-B-
it not just you, i do it as well.
if it ends to happily ill think of how it would end sadder (like i wanted it to darnit!.. ahem..)
also, i nitpick, and i wont hesitate to tell the theatre that the 12 shot magazine in that pistol just shot 20 shots and is impossible..
I analyze movies in the way that I follow the plot arch and know when the big climax is about to happen. My friends hate going to movies with me now that I discuss plot details they didn't see coming!
Totally NOT just you. I do the same thing
I think, whether it be movies or books, if something's wrong, we as readers and viewers can sense it. That's why some books and movies are more succesful than the others.
Have a happy Monday!
Given that I watch films for a living, I probably analyze them even more than anyone else. I'm always looking for something, whether it's box office potential or just great storytelling.
On the downside, I generally know if I loathe something, it's probably going to make a fortune, whereas if I love it, it'll tank.
I do this all...the...time. If the movie is good, I'm usually able to forget about analyzing it to death. But if I don't like it, I make a mental list of every little thing that could be changed to make a better story.
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one to suffer from this affliction.
I've been doing this, too! Though for me it's more about analyzing dialogue. I listen to them talk and ask myself, "Would someone really say that?".
You know you're a writer if...
You analyze movies. Hahaha!
