Wow, today was the first day I've had off in roughly two months... seriously. And, surprise, surprise, I spent most of the day catching up on overdue writing (& music) obligations.
Today's Stats:
Haven: 16 chapters edited (yep... lots of work done... yay)
Heroes: 1 chapter written
Critique: 1 review given for my critique group
Music: over 1 hour of guitar practice (wow, my guitar teacher is going to be S.H.O.C.K.E.D...)
Boy, when you don't have much else to do, you can definitely get through a lot...
Over the past couple of months with my very busy schedule, it got me thinking about setting up a specific time to do my writing (at the moment organisation isn't in my dictionary). I know that my day changes and on normal days I would not be able to get my writing done during the day (actually I have trouble finding time to write during the hours that most normal people are actually awake).
One thing I know for sure is that I've got to get in a habit of finding that one bit of time where I won't be disturbed (I need lots of luck with that) and try to block out all forms of distractions... yeah, procrastination is actually bad for getting any work done, who'd have thought it?
So, do you set aside a time that you write or do you write whenever you find any time.

I have all the time in the world to write, the problem is making myself take that time to actually sit down and do the work. I am a terrible procrastinator. ^^;
I guess I write best late at night. Probably because my mind calms down a little bit, and when it's tired the creativity has nothing to hinder it. (That's what I tell myself. Usually it's just because night is when it finally gets quiet and I procrastinate all day.)
But congratulations on your very productive day, that's a lot of work done!
Sometimes getting up earlier in the morning is the best way to find free time. Not that I have the willpower to do that... :)
I used to get up at 4:30 am to write, but then I did the math and realized I was only getting in 5 1/2 hours of sleep. Now I get up at 5 am. But instead of writing, I'm blogging.
My writing time comes when my kids are at school . . . which means as soon as my kids are off for the summer (3 more weeks) there won't be much writing being done. But the break will be nice. Plus my wip is out with critters/beta readers so there isn't much to do except work on the planning for the next project.
It was easier for me to find the time during winter. Now I have to try to find the time to write. Can I have a snow day in June please, lol.
I just popped over from Christines blog :) *waves* I don't know if I have a specific time, usually when I have something to write I try to write it then. But then dreams happen in the middle of the night and I take notes...then I wake up and think, what is this?!?! If I had to choose a time it would be most likely in the evening, when I do artwork I am usually inspired in the evenings. I have the coolest word to verify, conybog!
Congrats on your progress! I make time to write else I would never get anything written. :)
Congrats --you are progressing well. Since I have 2 kiddos I try to write when they go to bed or when they nap. I don't get a lot of choices. I keep a journal with me incase I get an idea and can't get to my laptop.
@Keri, procrastination is always the problem. There is way too many distractions on the net.
@Bethany, thanks, I do find it easier to write late at night or early in the morning because there's too many distractions during the day.
@Stina, I was like that too. Now I get up at 5:30 each day, but by the time I finish going through my bloglist and leaving comments it's after 7 and I'm wondering where the time's gone.
@Kerri, it's definitely easier to write when it's colder, snuggled up on the lounge with a coffee. Although it's winter here, It'd be a miracle if it snowed.
@Erica, *waves*, hi. Evenings are always a good time to write, when there's no other hassles of the day.
Danyelle, thanks. I'm starting to feel that way. I need to set the time to actually get anything done.
@Christine, the journal idea is a great one. All my ideas seem to happen when I'm at work or driving. It's always good to be able to jot things down quickly.
My life is pretty hectic too. I don't have a specific time to write - I just do what I can when I can. It works for the most part.
As of right now, I just write whenever I find time, but I would love to try to set aside some set time to write each day. I think it would at least keep me consistent.
Oh my word! You must have had a lot of energy today to make that much progress. Hats off to you!
Congratulations on your wonderful progress! That's really amazing.
I write whenever I find time. However, I have been thinking about setting a specific time to write each day. I'd be a lot more productive that way.
Can I have a snow day in June please, lol.
